Steering & suspension on electric vehicles (what’s different?)

Electric vehicles and many hybrids can place different demands on steering and suspension compared with a conventional internal combustion engine car.

Instant torque can highlight worn mounts, bushes, and traction-related stability issues
Many EVs use electric power steering and advanced stability systems that rely on accurate sensor data

The fundamentals are the same — joints, bushes, dampers, springs and steering components still wear — but correct diagnosis matters, especially when warning lights are involved.

What causes knocking when going over bumps?

Often it’s worn drop links, bushes, ball joints, top mounts, or a failing shock absorber — but it can also be something as simple as a loose component. A proper inspection is the quickest way to confirm.

Why does my car pull to one side?

It could be wheel alignment, tyre pressure/tyre condition, brake drag, or worn steering/suspension parts. We’ll check the basics first, then inspect components for play or damage.

Is wheel alignment the same as steering repair?

No. Alignment adjusts wheel angles; steering repairs fix worn or faulty parts (track rods, joints, rack issues). However, alignment is often recommended after steering or suspension work.
